EUROCONTROL is a company founded in 1980, on the initiative of a group of technicians skilled in non-destructive examinations, who set out to offer an efficient, serious, timely and high quality service on behalf of a third parties.

Policy for work and human rights


COMMITMENT

Eurocontrol considers the valorisation of work and respect for human rights among the essential principles on which the corporate culture and strategy are based.
These values ​​are a fundamental part of the corporate Code of Ethics, issued to inspire and guide the behaviour of all those who work at Eurocontrol, regardless of their role and responsibilities, towards principles of correctness, loyalty, integrity and transparency.
Eurocontrol recognizes and respects the Universal Declaration of Human Rights issued by the United Nations and the Declaration of the International Labour Organization (ILO – Conventions and Recommendations) on the fundamental principles and rights at work and also voluntarily embraces the following references:

  • Social Accountability International SA8000 - International Standard (SAI)
  • the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
  • the UNI EN ISO 26000 standard Guide to Social Responsibility

Eurocontrol has also made its commitment to the protection of human rights explicit in the following main corporate documents:
- Code of Ethics and Anti-Corruption
- Quality Policy
- Health and Safety Policy and Environmental Policy.

This Labour and Human Rights Policy incorporates the principles contained in these documents and in the Company Code of Ethics and aims to summarise in a document Eurocontrol's commitment to the following issues:

  • Protection of the health and safety of personnel in the workplace
  • Guarantee of working conditions that comply with current legislation and collective agreements
  • Freedom of association and dialogue with the social partners
  • Freedom of expression and opinion in compliance with the formalities, conditions, restrictions or sanctions provided for by law
  • Enhancement of skills and professional development
  • Fight against all forms of forced or compulsory labour and child labour
  • Fight against all forms of discrimination and harassment in the workplace
  • Equal treatment between women and men in all social spheres
  • Protection of the confidentiality of personal and sensitive data and protection of the same from cyber threats

 PRINCIPLES

Health and safety in the workplace
Protecting health and improving working conditions are an integral part of the company culture.
The company undertakes:

  • to act in compliance with applicable laws and other provisions signed, with particular reference to its obligations to comply with current legislation, promoting consultation and participation of workers and workers' representatives;
  • to protect the health and safety of its collaborators and external personnel who collaborate in the company context, intervening on prevention and protection measures for safety at work and monitoring the potentially harmful effects of company activities that also impact the environment;
  • to improve working conditions in relation to safety and health aspects related to the risks present in the company and to the search for the elimination of dangers and the prevention of accidents, injuries, occupational diseases and emergencies with potential negative effects on the safety and health conditions of the workplace;
  • to spread and consolidate a culture of safety among all its collaborators, developing awareness of risks and promoting responsible behavior by all, also through adequate information and instructions.

Working conditions
The company undertakes to recognize a correct working schedule that complies with current legislation and to pay a salary that recognizes the contractual and salary levels appropriate to the role and duties of each worker, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant National Collective Labor Agreement.
The company guarantees a working environment inspired by the protection of the dignity, freedom and inviolability of the person, marked by respect and mutual fairness and in which the principle of equal opportunities and equal treatment between people is fully recognized.

Freedom of association and dialogue with the social partners
The Company undertakes to recognize the right to promote training and participation in trade unions or other types of associations and not to limit the exercise of this right in any way.
An open and transparent approach in social relations, based on a constructive dialogue that respects the role and positions of trade union representatives, also aims to ensure a more widespread knowledge of the Company's strategies and investment policy, as well as to ensure particular attention to the protection of collective interests and the professional development of workers.
The Company also ensures that anyone has the right to report or complain about any type of illicit or unethical act that has occurred within the organization (so-called whistleblowing), guaranteeing the confidentiality of the identity of the whistleblower and any other subjects involved, of the content of the report itself and of the related documentation, keeping these subjects harmless from any possible retaliation.

Enhancement of skills and professional development
Human resources are a fundamental element for the existence, development and success of a company.
For this reason, the Company protects and promotes the development of human resources in order to improve and increase the skills possessed by each employee, encouraging the achievement of objectives, pursuing employee satisfaction and establishing a positive working climate.
The methods of access to employment in the Company are based on criteria of transparency, publicity and impartiality and are aligned with the principle of equal opportunities between men and women and that of non-discrimination for reasons of ethnicity, nationality, language, religion, political opinions, sexual orientation, personal conditions. The criteria for assigning tasks and responsibilities, in the promotion of staff and in the assignment of workloads are linked exclusively to skills and work performance.

Forced or compulsory labor and child labor
The Company undertakes not to use or support the use of child labor and to promote all actions aimed at developing a culture of protection of young people at work.
The Company does not use forced, compulsory or involuntary labor within its organization, nor does it support this type of working relationship in any way.

Discrimination and harassment in the workplace
The Company offers equal opportunities to all employees on the basis of their professional qualifications and individual skills, without any discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, age, race, geographic origin, nationality, age, marital or maternal status, religious belief, disability, health status, union membership or political affiliation or otherwise.
The Company therefore undertakes:

  • to guarantee the dignity and respect of workers also, but not exclusively, through the exclusion of physical, corporal and mental coercion, verbal abuse or any offense against the personal dignity of any employee or collaborator;
  • to promote the conditions that allow each worker to operate with integrity, honesty, and professionalism;
  • to prevent discrimination, acts and behaviors, including harassment, moral or psychological violence, that are detrimental to the dignity of the person and to support the person who wants to react, through continuous monitoring of the working environment in which they operate;
  • to inhibit the conduct of those who engage in bullying or persecutory behaviors that cause discomfort and psychophysical discomfort in the worker.

 OBJECTIVES

  1. Maintaining the number of cases or reports of discrimination or harassment in the workplace at 0 (zero)
  2. Increasing the share of female staff in managerial positions
  3. Reducing injuries, accidents, near misses and the number of hours lost on an annual basis due to accidents at work. 

SCOPE OF APPLICATION
This Policy applies to all Eurocontrol employees and collaborators to whom it will be made available in every workplace and indicating to them the ways to express any opinions and requests on the topics covered.
All Eurocontrol personnel are required, without exception, to adapt their behavior to the principles established in this
Policy, both in the workplace and during external work-related activities.
This Policy is available on the company intranet and on the Eurocontrol institutional website so that it is accessible to all interested parties (so-called stakeholders).

UPDATES
This Policy is subject to periodic review in order to ensure its adequacy and effective implementation, it is communicated to all staff, suppliers, customers and all other interested parties, by publication on the company website (www.eurocontrol.it).
